Domaine Ramonet - Montrachet Grand Cru 2010
Overview:
Producer: Domaine Ramonet
Region: Le Montrachet Grand Cru, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France
Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol by Volume (ABV): 14%
Tasting Notes:
Burghound (96 points): "Amazingly, this hasn't really changed all that much since my last review of 2013 as the nose is still noticeably oak-inflected along with the same gorgeously complex aromas of resin, petrol, spice, pear, white peach, apricot, honeysuckle and acacia blossom. There is excellent size, weight and punch to the imposingly scaled broad-shouldered flavors that drench the palate in dry extract yet the precision and detail are nothing short of remarkable. There is superb depth of material, all wrapped in a still pretty tightly wound yet massively long finish that is borderline painful in its intensity. This is still clearly very young and while it's coming along, it's doing so glacially. If there's a nit, and it's admittedly a minor one, I would have expected to see somewhat better integration of the wood by now and as such I have lowered my score by one point; that said, this remains a remarkable wine in every other respect and as it is still some years away from its apogee, continued patience is advised."
Jeroboams: "The 2010 Montrachet Grand Cru comes very close to perfection. It certainly ranks as one of the greatest wines I have ever tasted... It has a breathtaking nose with such delineation and mineralité that the world pauses for just a moment. The palate is just as good: intense, tensile, steely with immense weight and mind-boggling length. There is a crystalline beauty in this wine that one rarely comes across."
Serving Recommendation:
Serve chilled at 12 °C. This Grand Cru pairs excellently with rich seafood dishes, poultry, or creamy cheeses.
Aging Potential:
This wine is still developing and is expected to reach its peak between 2025 and 2045. Continued patience is advised to fully appreciate its complexity and depth.
Price Estimate:
As of recent data, the average price for a 750ml bottle is approximately €2,635. iDealwine
